There are many reasons why you may be experiencing hot spots or cold spots in your home.

The first and most prevalent reason is often that the ductwork in your home was designed improperly. People often discover that the places in their home that they most often notice uneven temperature are in rooms that are the farthest away from their air handler. A well designed duct system will distribute air evenly and keep it at temperature as it travels to its destination. The use of dampers and other tools can ensure the air is evenly balanced.

Another reason you may be experiencing uneven temperature throughout your home is an improperly sized unit. Air conditioning units are measured in tons, with one ton equal to 12,000 BTU’s (British Thermal Units). A “Manual J” load calculation is needed to determine the proper size system for your home, and Nice Air offers these calculations at no charge. One recent estimate put the number of systems that are improperly sized at install at close to 80% of all homes in Florida.
